Ms Bethanie:

I have been in the early childhood profession for more than 20 years.  I  graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and I have an masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Purdue University.   I am also a National Board Certified Teacher with an English as a Second Language endorsement.

I am from a small town in southern Illinois and enjoy visiting my family and friends in my hometown.  I have been in the Chicago area since 2000 and in Hyde Park since 2000.   I love the family friendly environment and diversity that Hyde Park offers.  Our preschool classroom reflects the diversity and uniqueness of Hyde Park.  Each school year brings exciting new learning experiences that hopefully cultivate the love of learning in our students.

I have recently become more invested in the preschool garden and also enjoy gardening with my father and 3 year old nephew.  I am looking forward to expanding our learning experiences to include more outdoor (gardening) activities!   I thoroughly enjoy working with young children and their families to ensure the most developmentally appropriate educational experiences.   Welcome to Ray Preschool!

Ms.  Maggie:

My name is Maggie Alvarez and I have been a teacher assistant for 8 years. I’m enthusiastic and caring educator who believes that all children can learn and thrive. I truly love teaching since the day I could remember I knew I want to teach. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to work with you and your child. I’m super excited to start the new school year.

I grew up in Chicago and I’m a graduate from Chicago public school. My favorite thing about Chicago is our beautiful down town. Some fun facts about me is that I love camping and I like to dance. I come from a family of 3 and I’m the youngest. I love to inspire little minds especially with craft activities. It’s going to be a great year full of adventures and discoveries.
