Week of May 7th

Hello Parents:

We have delved into our garden and we are seeing a few sprouts! We are excited to experience the life cycle of the plants. We will soon have caterpillars and we will study the life cycle of the butterfly.

As we begin to wind down for the school year we will end our lending library on May 23rd. We are asking that you return all books/game bags by May 30th. Thank you!
We need play dough for May and June! Please sign up to make a batch for us! The children love using the play dough during free choice.

If your child will be returning for a second year of preschool please be sure to turn in your preference sheet to us as soon as possible. Thanks!
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Papczun to our room! Ms. Papczun will be substituting for me while I am out on medical leave. Mrs. Papzcun will be joining us on Thursday, May 17th, so that she can get to know the routine and the children. . Please be sure to introduce yourself and your child.

Here’s a little more about Mrs. Papczun:

Mrs. Papczun has taught with CPS from 2007 to 2016, and then stepped out of the classroom to obtain a master’s degree in Education Policy Studies. Before graduate school, she spent two years teaching at Bret Harte and taught at the Ancona School last spring for a maternity leave. Most recently she has spent the last 4 months teaching kindergarten at Ray, in Room 104, covering the maternity leave for Ms. Maltz. She also has two children at Ray (Leah in our preschool morning class) and Mr. Papczun is one of the 6th grade teachers.
In her own words:

Hyde Park is our home and I am involved in the community as an advocate for our public schools, most recently organizing a community reading day which brought volunteers into our network’s pre-k classrooms to read aloud. I believe in an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach to learning through honoring the natural curiosity of children. I look forward to supporting your student as they grow, by embracing Ray’s mission of fostering a love of learning. Please feel free to contact me at klulrich-pap@cps.edu.
