Hello Parents:
Curriculum:
We had an awesome time exploring the various stories of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The Story Bus was a great start for our 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf exploration. Please be sure to check out the 3 D voting that is on display in the classroom. We will be exploring the following stories: The 3 Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf by Mark Teague, The Three Little Pigs by Paul Galdone, THE Three Horrid Little Pigs by Liz Pichon, The 3 Little Pigs by Bonnie Dobkin, The 3 Little Fish and Big Bad Shark by Ken Geist, The 3 Little Dassies by Jan Brett, The 3 Pigs Los Tres Cerdos, Nacho,Tito, and Miguel, The 3 Little Pigs by James Marshall, The 2 Little Javelinas by Susan Lowell, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by A. Wolf by Jon Scieszka. If you have any other versions that you would like to come in and read or share with the class please let me know. We will continue to explore the various stories right up to Spring Break. We will begin our Eric Carle author/illustrator study after Spring Break.
Thank you to all of the parents who have made play dough for classroom. The children thoroughly enjoy using it in the classroom. We will need a new batch of play dough right after Spring Break, so please sign up if you are willing to make a batch for us.
Dates to Remember:
This Wednesday, March 25th from 1-4 p.m. there will be a Roaming Sign Up team here at Ray to take applications and the required paper work for families who would like to apply to Preschool For All. The team will be accepting applications for any Chicago Public Schools Ready to Learn Program. If you have a toddler who will be 3 before September 1, 2015 and you would like them to attend preschool please go to the Chicago Public Schools website (cps.edu) and type in Early Childhood: Ready To Learn Initiative in the search engine. Once the Early Childhood page comes up scroll down to the middle of the page to the “How To Apply” section and click on it. Follow the instructions and bring the required paperwork to one of the enrollment centers or bring the paper work to Ray on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 1-4. We do not do the actual enrollment for the preschool program, thus turning your paper work in at Ray does not guarantee a placement at Ray. The Office of Access and Enrollment places the children into classrooms.
***If your child is already enrolled in the preschool at Ray for the current school year there is no need to reapply. Your child is guaranteed a spot in the program for next year.
April 6-10th– Spring Break No School
May 14th– Field Trip to Emerald City ***please turn in money by March 31st. Thank You
Week of the Young Child will be April 12th-18th. We will have a fun filled week planned for our students and families. More information will be forthcoming.
