We have begun our Fall/Autumn topic of study. We are asking children to bring in their favorite apple (red, yellow, or green) by Wednesday, October 8th. We will be conducting our taste testing activity on Thursday, October 9th. The week of October 13th we are asking for parents to donate small (the more unique looking the better) gourds for our scientific exploration. We would really appreciate any cool looking gourd that you could donate to our classroom.
Our First field trip is Friday, October 31st to Eden’s Place Pumpkin Patch (more details to follow, please keep an eye out for the field trip permission form in your child’s mailbox. We will leave Ray school shortly after 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately 12:30. Please be here on time, we will not wait for you. It is unfair to delay the entire trip for the other children and the other classrooms. There will no regular afternoon class. All 40 students will arrive at school at 9:00 a.m. and be picked at 12:30.
I will be out of the classroom on Wednesday and Friday of this week. We are scheduled to have Ms. Byas one or both of the days, or Ms. Allen. Both substitutes have been in our classroom and have a great rapport with the children.
Here are a few field trip guidelines that I am asking all parents to follow:
On field trip days we ask that all parents bring their child into the classroom and pick them up from the field trip in the classroom. DO NOT meet us at the bus upon our return to Ray School. Please wait outside the classroom door as if it was a regular day. It is too hectic and unsafe to pick up your child from the bus. If you will be attending the field trip with us, I ask that you help with your child and I will most likely assign you other children to chaperone while on the trip. Thank you in advance for all of your help!
Please be sure to fill out the volunteer packet if you would like join us. Parents are required to be finger printed/background checks if parents volunteer 10 hours or more, OR volunteer one-on-one with a child. If you do not plan on volunteering more than 10 hours per week (that is basically most of the preschool week) we simply ask that you fill out the first couple of pages of the volunteer pack. Please see me for more details.
We are asking children to not wear costumes to school on the 31st in lieu of a Halloween or Harvest celebration, we will be attending the field trip that day. If your child wears a costume I will request that they remove it and change into a spare change of clothes.
