We are welcoming in the lovely autumn weather! Please be sure to swap out your child’s extra summer clothes with WARM clothes. Please be sure to send a jacket or sweater with your child. In addition to our daily gross motor activities on our playground, we will go on nature walks in the neighborhood to explore the autumn changes that are occurring.
We are also going to conduct a gourd art activity. We need extra gourds so that every child has a gourd to decorate. If you see a couple of cool gourds that you would like to donate we would really appreciate it. Thank you!
We have also scheduled our first field trip for December 6, 2013. We need all monies and permission slips turned in by Tuesday November 12, 2013. If you would like to join us on the field trip it will cost an additional $10.00 for you. Depending on the number of parents who want to attend I may need to limit the number of parent volunteers. We have a limited number of seats available to us. We are planning on going on several field trips this year and hopefully you will be able to join us on one of our later trips.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held November 12th. The sign-up sheet will be available the first week of November. The preschool children do not receive a “report” this conference. The conference allots us a brief discussion about your child’s progress thus far in the school.

Hello Parents:

We have been working diligently working on building a positive classroom community!  The children have been exploring the various areas in the classroom and making new friendships.  We are going to explore apples and moving onto gourds and pumpkins for the rest of this month.  This week we are working on the math skills of subitzing, matching items 1-5, and exploring size with the focus on “Big” are generating lists of words that are synonyms for big.  Next week we will expand our learning and  explore “What type of big.” We will focus on the mathematical terms wider, taller, longer, fatter, thicker, and heavier.  We will also continue working on building our classroom community.  Be sure to ask your child about the “Bugs and Wishes” tools we have added to our classroom to assist the children in working out their conflicts.  We will be ready to have parents come into the classroom and volunteer beginning October 15th.  I will have a sign-up sheet available on Monday for you to sign up for a day and time that you would like to volunteer.  We need volunteers to work with small groups of children, reading to children, and we can always use help with some of our house keeping duties.  Please sign up for activities that you feel comfortable participating in.  I will give you details instructions so that you feel comfortable working with the children or completing the housekeeping duties.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.  I have attached the Lending Library guidelines (please be sure you/your child returns the books into the blue container with the orange “Return Books Here” sign on it besides the lending library bookshelf.  I have also included the Room 405 Pre-K Handbook as well.
