We would like to thank all of the families, staff, and our students for making the Preschool Fundraiser such a huge success!  WOW!  What an amazing night!  We raised well over our goal! So far we have raised just over $5,000 with money coming in from additional art sales. This money will be used to pay for our music program and to support other special events throughout the school year.  We would especially like to thank Lindsey (Mile’s mommy), Leslie (Micah’s mommy), Angie (Mackenzie’s mommy), Kara (Naomi’s mommy), Katie (Neil’s mommy) and all of the parents who helped with the any part of the pre-auction, auction, and clean up!  We truly appreciate all of the time and effort that was put forth by our awesome parents!

Ray U Pledge Drive: Please make your pledge to support Ray University. You can make checks payable to Friends of Ray and indicate on the memo line: Ray U Pledge Drive. Please visit our new website to learn more about our pledge drive to raise funds for Ray University, Ray School’s innovative enrichment program, currently in full swing at all grade levels:

We have taken a brief dive into a “Deep Math Focus” the children have been showing a great amount of enthusiasm in solving math problems.  We will take this week and next week to focus on some interesting math activities which will take us right into to our first Parent & Child Math Activity of the year.  Please be sure to check out the bulletin boards and the work boards in the classroom to see what math problems the children have been solving!

The Math Activity will be held in the student cafeteria from 9:15-10:30 a.m.  Both the morning and afternoon class will attend the morning activity.  There will not be afternoon session.  Parents (or caregivers) are required to STAY and experience the activities with their child.  These activities are designed to give parents first-hand experiences on the math curriculum that is used in the classroom and what math skills their child may need more support with.  Hopefully, parents will get fresh ideas of how to support math experiences at home.

We will also begin our Author/Illustrator Study of Eric Carle next week.  We will be exploring books that are classics and newer stories either written or illustrated by Eric Carle.  If you have any unique Eric Carle books that you would be willing to share with us, we would really appreciate it!

We are still eating our way through the snacks that were brought in earlier.  We will alert parents of when we are in need of more snack!

We would like to thank all the parents that helped out with the literacy party. It was a huge success thanks to all of your assistance!

Thank you for turning in the homework pages each week!  The “homework” is meant to be an enjoyable activity that extends the learning that is taking place at school.  Please complete the assignments at your leisure.  We realize that families are busy and you are continually having meaningful experiences with your children on a regular basis.  Please do not stress if you skip an assignment or turn an assignment in at a later date.  We do however want to have “family” pages in each child’s “All About Me” books, so please do take the time to complete the forms with your child.  Thank you!

We are going to attempt to do a brief study on Fall Leaves, (many of the trees have already shed the leaves) we will take short walks around the school neighborhood, thus please send appropriate outer wear for your child each day.

Half-Day: Friday, November 9, 2012 is our second half day. This means that the Afternoon class will have class and the morning class will not. The afternoon class will have class from 8:45 til 11:20.

Knuffle Bunny Field Trip: The permission slip for the Knuffle Bunny Play has gone out. We need the money and permission slips back as soon as possible so that we can ensure the correct number of tickets. The donation for the trip is $10 per person attending the play. We will be leaving here at 8:45 and returning at 11:45.

Parent-Teacher conferences: Conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. There is a sign-up sheet located by the door. Please sign up for a time to discuss your child’s process. Conferences are only 10 minutes long, if you think that you will need a longer conference please sign up for a conference on another day.

Preschool fundraiser: The preschool fundraiser will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5:00-6:30. It should be a great night. There will be a silent auction, dinner for sale and your child’s art work for sale. This is a great opportunity to meet other preschool parents and load up on holiday gifts. If you have any items you would like to donate to the silent auction please contact Lindsay Banman via email ( or phone (773-612-0077). Thank you in advance!

We will also need donations of store bought desserts and drinks for the night of the event as well. If you would like to make these donations please see Ms. Bethanie.
